Cobalt Health has officially taken over the Fresenius Medical Care’s seating business in Australia — a move that significantly strengthens our local manufacturing capability and reinforces our long-term commitment to Australian-designed and Australian-made healthcare seating, and ensures continuity for customers who rely on these trusted clinical chairs.
Growing the T688 Treatment Chair
The best-selling T688 treatment chair will continue to be manufactured, supplied, and supported locally by Cobalt Health. Healthcare providers can expect the same class-leading comfort, ergonomic support and safety features that made the T688 a benchmark for dialysis, oncology and infusion environments. Cobalt will support the T688 with local service, spare parts and clinical expertise to protect existing investments and simplify future procurement. Cobalt will continue to support the other T series chairs.
Revitalising a proven product family
Beyond the T688, Cobalt Health is investing in revitalising a broader range of clinical and pressure care chairs including those previously sold by Fresenius in Australia. This includes updates to materials, pressure care technologies and ergonomics so facilities can standardise on a contemporary, clinically robust seating platform across treatment, rehab and long-stay environments.
Spotlight on the Shoalhaven chair
A key focus of this revitalisation is the Australian-made Shoalhaven chair, a high-care recliner designed for aged care and long-stay users. The Shoalhaven provides postural comfort with integrated headrest, lumbar and lateral support, combined with recline options and soft-stretch fabrics to maximise comfort for residents spending extended periods in the chair. By bringing the Shoalhaven into its portfolio, Cobalt Health is reinforcing its commitment to locally engineered solutions that support both carers and residents in aged care settings across Australia.
A new chapter for a trusted seating range
With this acquisition we will enhance Cobalt’s local design, manufacturing, and service capabilities across hospital and aged care settings, and also be able to introduce new and updated products into our portfolio to better support our customers, and their patients, staff and users.

If I have an existing order with Fresenius, or a quote request, will it be sent to Cobalt?
Fresenius is working with Cobalt to ensure all open orders have been sent across. However, for completeness please contact us at sales.seating@cobalthealth.com.au with a copy of your order so we can reach out to you about the status of it?
I want a new quote for a chair – who do I contact?

What about PPT Contracts?
Fresenius Medical Care Australia will continue to administer, support and fulfill these contracts. Cobalt will be supplying the chairs to end-customers via Fresenius, so your agreements with Fresenius will not change. We will be working closely with Fresenius to continue to support all customers, whether the products are supplied through Fresenius or Cobalt Health.
My renal department have chairs that I would like to purchase for another area in the hospital – who do I contact?

What about service and spare parts?
Cobalt will be providing a full range of spare parts, including upholstered and non-upholstered parts, such as motors, actuators and handsets for controlling the chairs. If you have an existing service contract with Fresenius that will not change, but we are also able to supply spare parts to you or assist with enquiries.
What about the other chairs Fresenius used to sell in Australia?
Cobalt is focused on supporting and supplying other chairs in the range, including the leading Shoalhaven chair, and phlebotomy/blood donation chair. If you have a specific enquiry about a product please contact us.
